Dr Maria Phalime
As a coach my commitment is to your success. It is this commitment that ensures that I keep you focused on the results you're after, and stretch and challenge you to think in new and innovative ways and take bold action.
I became a reluctant leader when I wrote my memoir, Postmortem - The Doctor Who Walked Away, a chronicle of my journey as a medical student and doctor and the reasons that led me to walk away from medical practice.
Overnight my story was in every major newspaper in the country; I was invited to speak at conferences, medical schools, on television and TEDx; and doctors from all over the world reached out to me to thank me for sharing my story.
Though my intention had never been to lead, my book thrust me into that role and I had to quickly step up! I obtained the necessary qualifications and set about honing my craft, driven by the knowledge that I could continue to make difference in the medical profession.
My coaching focuses on what many of out textbooks didn't teach us:
How to lead others effectively.
How to get the best out of ourselves and others.
How to work effectively in teams so that each person is pulling in the same direction.
How to tune into our inner wisdom and chart our own course.
How to look after ourselves so that we are better able to look after others.
Our conversations will be deep. Your thinking will be stretched and challenged, and I will hold you accountable for taking the actions needed to move you forward.
Coaching with me is for you is any of the following applies to you:
You're a senior doctor wanting to sharpen your leadership skills.
You are at a cross-roads in your career and you want to get clear on the way forward.
You want to make a difference in your field and you want support to turn that aspiration into reality.
You do an excellent job of looking after others but your own life could do with some attention.
You want to grow as a human being - mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
